Background

Aliaxis, a global water solutions company, was delivering a large-scale SAP S/4HANA transformation, with phased rollouts planned across APAC and North America. To support this, the organisation had already invested in SAP Signavio and built a repository of more than 7,500 process models.

Over time, this content had expanded as different projects progressed, creating an opportunity to further strengthen structure, governance, and reuse. As the S/4HANA programme expanded, the BPM environment needed to evolve to support the increasing scale and complexity of change. This presented opportunities to improve consistency, adoption, and long-term value.

bpmd was engaged to enhance the BPM function and introduce a scalable governance framework. The goal was to strengthen SAP Signavio as a reliable, business-facing platform that could support both operations and transformation.

Challenges and Opportunities

  • Compliance tracking relied on Excel and ServiceNow, creating fragmented oversight.
  • Process models varied in structure and quality, making them hard to find and reuse.
  • Key finance processes were documented in lengthy Word files.
  • Adoption remained low despite a large volume of process content.
  • Expansion across regions required stronger BPM governance.

Our Approach

  • bpmd worked with business and IT stakeholders to enhance the BPM environment and enable scale.
  • We refined modelling standards, naming conventions, and repository structure.
  • Fragmented Word-based documentation was consolidated into SAP Signavio, creating a more consistent and governed source of truth.
  • We introduced version control, review cycles, and process ownership to strengthen governance.
  • Key finance processes were prioritised and redesigned for clarity, usability, and reuse.
  • To support adoption, we delivered hands-on coaching, process reviews, and regular Q&A sessions to build confidence and capability across teams.

Results

  • Scalable BPM framework established with clear standards and ownership.
  • Improved single source of truth across regions.
  • Core finance processes standardised for SAP S/4HANA rollout.
  • Adoption accelerated through coaching and enablement.
  • Reduced process ambiguity across regions post go live.
  • Increased business trust in the BPM framework.
  • The organisation now has a structured, scalable BPM foundation that supports SAP S/4HANA delivery and enables continuous improvement across regions.
